Victor Hugo Ricco has a Degree in Law, from the School of Law, National University of Cordoba (NUC), Argentina, and is Masters Degree Candidate in International Relations from the Center of High Studies (CEA), National University of Cordoba (NUC), where he is Assistant Professor in Civil Law and conducts research on local and international human rights. He is Legal Advisor at CEDHA, and Coordinates CEDHA’s Participation in the Americas Initiative for which his responsibilities include the promotion and protection of human rights of access to public information and public participation in environmental matters, research, publications, advisory services to victims of human rights and environmental violations, advisor to NGOs and other civil society actors, and various advocacy activities on issues relevant to the protection of human rights and the linkages between human rights and the environment.
He has contributed with his work to strengthen the recognition and protection of human rights, particularly access to information and participation in different regional forums such as the Free Trade Area for the Americas (FTTA), the Summit of the Americas Process, the OAS system, MERCOSUR, as well as at the national and regional level in Argentina and in the Southern Cone. Internationally, Victor has also collaborated in the drafting of amicus briefs presented before the OAS and the WTO, focused on strenghtening access to public information.
Victor Ricco regularly contributes as trainer to capacity building programs geared to strengthening civil society either by helping build advocacy capacity, or develop more effective advocacy strategies with a view to influence regional developmen processes. He coordinates and monitors the Participation in the Americas Working Group, a group comprising over 80 hemispheric advocates, created by CEDHA, and serving to advance cohesive and coordinated rights advocacy in the hemisphere.
