Mining Industry Guidelines and Reviews

OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises

Guidelines for operations of multinational enterprises, including environmental recommendations, disclosure requirements and bribery. Complaints can be lodged concerning operations within any OECD member country or regarding any enterprise headquartered in an OECD country. Argentina is not an OECD member country although all multinational operations within Argentina are expected to comply with the Guidelines.

Equator Principles

Voluntary standards for project finance based on the International Finance Corporation’s Safeguard Policies often providing stronger environmental and social norms than many Latin American countries. Applicable to projects financed by commercial banks and export credit agency signatories.

Voluntary initiative for mining enterprises to promote transparency in operations and transactions. Applicable to members of ICMM GRI Mining and Metals Supplement.

World Summit of Sustainable Development Plan of Implementation

Paragraph 44 of the Implementation Plan of the World Summit of Sustainable Development provides an implementation plan for increasing sustainability within the mining industry.
